This study examines whether parents and youngsters can be taught to apply economic reasoning to everyday family decisions, and whether such application increases their satisfaction with the decision-making process. The results show that instructional mediation increases levels of economic reasoning in family budgetary decisions, which in turn increases the level of children's and parents' satisfaction with the decision-making process
