The conjunction of a restrictive migratory regime which applies to seasonal Moroccan agricultural workers in France, and the abandonment of French farming areas, is behind the phenomenon of these workers setting up as farmers. By establishing their own businesses, these migrant workers and their children revive the agricultural vocation of the Mediterranean huerta. However, they renew this system of cultivation using strategies that are specific to this new group of Provençal producers of migrant origin. The farming business is seen by them as a means for enrichment through informal practices
