This article explores the representations of the sky and its elements among the Pilagá of the Argentinean Gran Chaco, with the aim of describing ethnographically their changes and continuities over time. Changes in these conceptions are closely related to the transformations the Pilagá have undergone in their daily lives, especially since the colonization of the Chaco. Military incursions, the advance of settlers, the Chaco War, the privatization of land, the arrival of the railroad, and the establishment of labor enclaves and religious settlements forced the indigenous population into a sedentary lifestyle, which significantly modified their daily lives and their ways of obtaining sustenance. In turn, the perception of time and space, where the firmament once held considerable importance, also underwent variations. Therefore, understanding the transformations in celestial representations, particularly those related to sustenance activities, key to comprehending how contemporary Pilagá communities conceive of the sky and all that they believe it comprises
