L'A. expose la theorie de la connaissance de Elster et remet en cause le critere qu'il donne pour les explications fonctionnelles (i.e. les explications a partir des consequences). L'A. vise a mieux les separer des explications intentionnelles ainsi qu'a se debarrasser de la categorie d'«explication-filtre»
