Paul Bourget contributed to the edification of the literary myth of a provincial Paris in his psychological and high-society novels taking place during the Belle Époque. Describing some provinces areas in the Paris Left Bank, he recounts the Journey of some young provincial men who, as some protagonists in Balzac ́s novels, want to conquest Paris and the aristocratic class living in the Bvd Saint-Germain. The author undertakes à shift of the literary myth of Paris which turns out to be fatal for both men who are victims of this uprooting and women who cannot accède the under- allegory of the Parisienne. The foreigners thanks to their Cosmopolitism are the only ones who are not the victims of Parisianism they paradoxically represent the very essence of Paris
