The female liberty has been conquered gradually in particular with the development of the feminist movement more recently, since they evidenced necessity of the rupture with the restricting patterns. Over the history, it was this flank that added most of the taboos that afflict the female body, and by thinking of these issues by directing our gaze to the African continent, we see that the problems surrounding female sexual liberty need to be further discussed. It is necessary to observe how the women of that continent have gained, historically and gradually, the liberty to belong to themselves and, consequently, to make their own decisions about their bodies. From this perspective, we aim to discuss, in this reflection, the search for the right to female sexual liberty in Africa, based on the study of three of the most striking characters in the graphic novel Aya de Yopougon, by the Ivorian writer M. Abouet, with illustrations by C. Oubrerie
