L'article fait un compte-rendu critique de deux ouvrages recents sur les origines ethniques des peuples anciens. Celui d'E. E. Kuz'mina (Whence came the Indo-Aryans ?) discute des origines des Indo-Aryens en particulier, et des Indo-Iraniens en general, en se fondant sur les ethno-diagnostics tire de l'identification des caracteristiques culturelles du materiel de chaque groupe ethnique. Celui d'A. I. Ivantchik (Les Cimmeriens au Proche-Orient) analyse les origines des Cimmeriens et les aspects de leur histoire au Proche-Orient
