This overview article opens up with the key factors contributing to the growth of English in the education system in Morocco. The subsequent section places a special focus on English language teaching in the Moroccan English department. An important space is devoted to addressing the history, changing mission, and contributions of the Moroccan English department as an institution at university. The same section includes information about the recent reforms regarding English language education and statistics and figures involving students’ enrolment and graduation rates in the departments of English.
