Abstract - This article analyzes the capital/labor or production/appropriation contradiction in capitalist society under neoliberalism, related here to small businesses, the locus of entrepreneurship. A privileged form in present-day capitalism, entrepreneurship has been widely encouraged, especially since the 1990s, and is therefore within the crisis of capital, which begins in the 1970s and, aggravated, persists to this day. With emphasis on the chances of autonomy and independence, the defense of entrepreneurship leads the worker to believe that he can be a partner of capital. But, given the ontological impossibility of different economic systems to live independently and harmoniously, the real motivation of the incentive to small business in times of concentration and centralization of capital is questioned. While recognizing the capitalist determinations in Fordist relations, it is stressed the deepening of labor exploitation in the Toyotist period, facilitated by the restructuring of capital, whose policies make the market much more aggressive. In this context, the hypothesis is that entrepreneurship, instead of granting freedom, enslaves, since capital appropriates all the time of the entrepreneur. This relation, which is understood as one of the main ways in which the capitalist contradiction operates in the current historical moment, obliges the workers to confront directly the market, and is the reason why social protection and the possibility of class struggle are canceled. The analysis of the objective conditions of the insertion of the entrepreneur in the economy leads to the conclusion that the market is the worst of bosses. Keywords: entrepreneurship; capitalism; labor; contradiction; market
