I very much like your suggestion of a Tuskegee in Liberia .... It is my wish *to help towards starting a school that will really be a fine school following Tuskegee's methods .... thus founding a Tuskegee-in-Africa so that as the years go by Tuskegee will be a bond of union between the colored people here and in the state of Liberia.1 So wrote Booker T. Washington to an old acquaintance in 1909
