This paper addresses the notions of aspectivity and perspective, the nature and influence of the non-illustrated observer and of the potential viewer. It deals with these questions as applied to the expression of frontalism and its opposite in Egyptian art. Using a few examples, it presents the meaning of certain attitudes. It aims to define a standardised vocabulary which could be common to all disciplines among the art of Antiquity
