The Companions of the Underworld : Xolotl and the God of the Number Zero Two Mesoamerican gods, coming from different cultures, show many common aspects. The former, Xolotl, is particularly well represented in the Aztec civilization at the Post-classic period. The latter, the God of the Number Zero, is originated from the Maya culture at the Classic period. Both are related to the underworld ; they preside over the ballgame and the sacrificial death. They also seem to be related with the sacrifice for removal of the jaw
