It may be briefly said that when people talk about their children's first names they speak as "givers" and that when they talk about their own first names, they speak as "bearers". A rapid glance at the existing literature in the social sciences dealing with the naming process shows that most authors have concentrated on the givers, few have dealt with what the bearers have to say. We also open the discussion as to the kind of results obtained according to which analytical methods one decides to apply. In this article, content and discourse analysis are discussed in relation to two recorded interviews of a couple in which both members spoke separately about their first names
