Daniel Scheinfeld Institute for Juvenile Research Chicago, Illinois The quality of education in large urban school systems is cause for great public concern. Teachers and students are often alienated from each other and from the school. Students are emerging from the educational process ill-prepared to adapt successfully to life conditions, being cheated of an opportunity to enrich themselves in an educational setting.
