O artigo apresenta uma revisão da literatura sobre o presente cenário da administração das instituições de ensino superior públicas, com destaque para o caso de Portugal, designadamente quanto ao impacto que a introdução do paradigma da New Public Management e os efeitos que a crise económica e financeira mundial produziram nas instituições de ensino superior públicas.
