Pierre Achard - Discourse and enunciation: sociological inference from personal markers. The 1989 Congress of the Deputies of the People of the USSR. Studying the personal markers contained in a long passage (500 pages) taken from the debates of the People's Deputies' Congress of the Soviet Union in 1989 shows up certain characteristics of Russian political discourse: their distribution according to value (I, we, you), to syntax (subject, complement), to characteristics of speakers (in function of their origin and their mode of election) and the referential values of we/us in a particular form (u nos = we have or with us). The analysis reveals the specific nature of the political construct in the Russian and Soviet world and sheds light on why the USSR could so easily fall apart. It is also interesting methodologically for comparing discourses in different languages
