S'il est indeniable qu'au 12 e siecle l'accent mis sur l'autonomie de la theorie politique, sur sa superiorite face aux autres formes d'activite humaine et son caractere de science cardinale du bien ne peut qu'etre mis en relation avec l'aristotelisme, c'est a travers de nombreux intermediaires qu'agit Aristote, et non par son texte « La Politique ». Auteurs plus particulierement cites : Hughes de Saint-Victor, Guillaume de Conches, Dominicus Gondisalvi et Jean de Salisbury
