O estudo da construção do sambaqui fluvial Moraes, localizado no município de Miracatu (SP), identificou o papel da utilização da concha do gastrópode terrestre do gênero Megalobulimus na construção das camadas arqueológicas através da sua distribuição espacial e da análise de isótoposestáveisde 12C/13C (ä13C) e de 15N/ 14N (ä15N) realizados em ossos humanos arqueológicos e na carne recente de Megalobulimus sp. O presente artigo tem por finalidade apontar a complexidade da utilização de moluscos na formação do sambaqui fluvial e discutir qual o papel do Megalobulimus sp.na dieta do grupo construtor do sítio
