Based on an intersectional approach, this article aims to analyze the narrative of the short story "Maria" by Conceição Evaristo in the book Olhos D'Água (Water Eyes) (2016). The female-subject for a long time in the historiography of feminism was presented from a single social experience and as a target of patriarchy. The racial aspect involving many women who do not fit the dominant profile of racial hegemony has been disregarded. We focus on the literary representation of racial and gender inequality
