The evolution and problems of social Christianity in France from 1882 to 1940. This study offers a synthesis of the history of the Protestant movement of "social Christianity" from its beginnings (1882) up to 1940. Taking a positive view of the secular state, the movement faces up to modern thought and socialism while seeking a new social rôle for a renewed Christianity
