The aim is to understand neoliberalism, the medicalization of childhood and the role of the state and public policies. Through bibliographical research, we reflect on the gradual increase in the medicalization of childhood as a result of school complaints, the lack of guidance and/or monitoring from the State and how much neoliberalism influences this area of knowledge. The results lead us to reflect on the disclaimer on the part of the government and health professionals, given the cascading increase in reports and medication prescriptions in response to school complaints
