Imagine yourself in an office in a department of anthropology, moving the furniture out of the way so that you can move more freely. With hesitation and excitement the silence oozing out of the walls and floors is split by the call of an oboe and response of a voice. At first this feels like a disruption of the acoustic and kinetic regime. But then, surprise! This place affords more ways of attending, searching, thinking than is commonly expected. And who is doing this thinking? From two human individual subjectivities, we come to experience ourselves as 'WeI' (We + I), a multitude composed of singularities: persons, histories, oboe, room, the music ... We recount a speculative fabulation enacting through its multimodal form our exploration of these questions: Does the anthropology of the senses offer the tools to attend to other-than-human subjectivities? Can shifting anthropological habituses in universities (e.g., sitting at desks, thinking in immobility, analytic writing) enable attention to such different subjectivities? Can this shift then enable anthropologists to grapple with the other-than-human in ways that develop non-anthropocentric decolonial narratives
