Sodalicium Nigidiani" : The Pythagorean at Rome in the Late Republic Jérôme Carcopino thought that the Roman Pythagoreanism was political in its character. The author believed that in the middle of the 1st century B.C. a secret Pythagorean sodality existed in Rome, led by Nigidius Figulus. Many contemporary researchers regard Carcopino's thesis as the "communis opinio". A number of points made throughout this article prove that the French historian's opinion on the existence of a "sodalicium Nigidiani" asks for verification
