Computers are gaining acceptance in counselor training programs. In most programs computers are used for manipulating data, word processing, or, in some cases, for providing students simulation of the counseling process. The purpose of this article is to point out parallels in learning processes between some of the principles involved in learning to be a counselor and in learning to use computers. A rationale is presented for pointing out to counseling students how learning to use computers is not entirely different from learning to counsel. Seven counseling process principles are presented. Each is discussed from the perspective of counseling and computer usage
