In this essay we will use the schmittian typology of theological-political conceptual pairs as conceptual framework to study how pantheism was considered in nineteenth-century Germany (particularly between 1831 and 1848) as a revolutionary political doctrine. In this first part we briefly present the Enlightenment background of this issue by analyzing the aspect that links pantheism and politics in the reception of Spinoza in Germany
