This dissertation is the outcome of an investigation about the process of construction of the Child Education Quality Indicators in the city of São Paulo, an institutional participative selfevaluation tool which includes gender in one of the dimensions of quality, devised under the administration of Mayor Fernando Haddad, between 2013 and 2016.The purpose was to understand how gender was configured in this public policy of Child Education which combines evaluation, quality, and gender.The research is rooted in the fields of Sociology of Education and Gender Studies drawing from a historical perspective whose theoretical bearings were the concepts of configuration and interdependence relations by German sociologist Norbert Elias; and gender, echoes, and reverberations by North-American feminist historian Joan Scott.It is a study with a qualitative approach which, by looking at a Child Education policy, positions the different contexts making up the cycles of such local policy based on the dialogue with the methodology proposed by English sociologist Stephen Ball.Based on the documental review and on semi-structured interviews conducted with professionals who took part in the commission in charge of writing the quality indicators for the city of São Paulo, I problematize how, under which conditions, and how
