The groupings of Serra Barriga that constituted the "Quilombo dos Palmares" echoed and echoe in the social discourse through time to the present day.In this context, considering the dynamics of values that permeates the word, this research was conducted in order to analyze which meanings were being built on Palmares in the speeches enunciated throughout Brazilian history, seeking to identify the different "looks" for Palmares and understand the different "voices" present in these discourses in their respective socio-historical contexts. In order to respond to these objectives, a bibliographical research was carried out, which had as theoretical and methodological guidelines the contributions of the philosopher of the language Mikhail Bakhtin and his Circle. From the concept of great time, according to which today, present, is in continuous dialogue with the past and presents itself as a project of the future, it was possible to understand the different meanings constructed about Palmares over time in its relationship with the social context and the ideological positioning of those who enunciate it.It was observed that Palmares was sometimes / is stated in a derogatory way, sometimes acquires the sense of struggle for rights, such as education, and against racism. It was concluded that although stated in different spheres, it was in the artistic that the sign Palmares gained (and gains) value accents propagated by voices that, historically, have been unsubmissible in the Brazilian scenario, a fact that promotes words silenced in the past have new meanings and senses, opening up the possibility of resonances in the future
