This work analyses the architectural restoration of five bandeirantes' houses in the city of São Paulo.Those restoration works, which took place between the years 1950 and 2000, were accomplished by the IPHAN -Institute for National Artistic and Historical Heritage -and the DPH -Historical Heritage Department of the City Government of São Paulo.The work aims to identify and characterize both the conceptual and technical models that guided those restoration works.Assuming that IPHAN has developed a conceptual and technical paradigm in the restoration of this architectonical type, the work investigates the paradigm's permanence extent in those five houses and, reversely, its vanishing along the almost fifty years comprising this study
