This paper is a reevaluation of artifact assemblages associated with Clovis culture. Analytical perspective is shifted from mammoth-kill sites to the investigation of individual mammoth matrices. Patterned orientation and disarticulation of mammoth skeletons arc archaeological remnants of the cultural behavior of Clovis hunters. Numbers of projectile points having culturally patterned attributes were deliberately abandoned in mammoth carcasses; these provide insight to the cultural ecology of the Clovis hunters
