In this paper we study the various officiai publications concerning the validation by universities of the knowledge acquired through job experience and the impact of such measures on the manner universities operate. We explore severa ! questions. first the definition of knowledge. whether professional or not ; later we renect on the educational. social and economic challenges which justify such procedings and grant them meaning in individual and collective management of human ressources
