This article focuses on the choice of a nomination by a subject when it comes to describing their sex, whether it be a ‘third sex’, or quite simply their hetero- homo- or transexuality. The author reminds us that Lacanian-oriented psychoanalysis does not make a fetish of either anatomy or sexual difference. The author reviews a series of prejudices, albeit oedipal, which endeavour to see in analytical discourse a vector of normalisation
