In the post-pandemic era, universities in multistakeholder environments have increased research interest in responsible leadership and organizational citizenship behavior for the environment (OCBE) on university campuses, as a means to address global environmental degradation and enhance the environmental performance of higher education institutions. Based on social learning and event system theories, this article introduces COVID-19 event disruption and university student duty orientation, and reveals the internal mechanism of how supervisor's responsible leadership influences students' OCBE. Survey data collected from 186 Chinese university students show that: supervisor's responsible leadership predicts university students' OCBE through evoking their duty orientation; university students' perception of COVID-19 event disruption not only strengthens the relationship between supervisor's responsible leadership and students' duty orientation, but also enhances the mediation effect
