In this article, we introduce and reflect on co-drawing as a methodology formultimodal and collaborative ethnographic analysis. Co-drawing is part of our joint explorationof how to collaborate across our individual PhD research projects using multimodal methods andmaterials. Prompted by a creative impulse, we sent two sheets of paper – one for drawing, andone for writing – back and forth between us, using old-fashioned snail mail. Taking turns, addingdrawn and written reflections, and responding to those of the other, we explored what drawingand writing together could do for us as we tried to make sense of an empirical phenomenon wehad both encountered in our respective fieldwork. Co-drawing became a simultaneous act of cocreating and thinking through an ethnographic place on papers and between us: a shared spaceof multisensory expression and inquiry that helped us generate insights, stay with the process ofanalysis, and reflect upon our (shared) researcher-selves. In this article, we use co-drawing as a caseto argue for collaborative and multimodal forms of research to explore other cognitive pathwaysand pluralise knowledge-making, while committing to research as a relational practice
