L'article presente une analyse des phenomenes inegalitaires. L'A. a recours a des donnees du recensement de 1980 aux Etats-Unis et constate que les inegalites dans le monde du travail entre hommes et femmes, entre noirs et blancs sont plus fortes dans les entreprises situees dans un univers social plutot inegalitariste que dans les industries dont l'assise tend a etre nationale. L'A. juge ambigues les donnees qu'il a recueillies entre hommes et femmes blanches
