In this article we examine and discuss the concept of prejudice (or prejudgment) as a scaffolding and self-efficacy method for a co-design process involving 10th-graders and two Danish cultural history museums. The study is based upon the project Museum Dialogues (in Danish “Museumssamtaler”). We argue that the use of prejudice as an approach holds potential in building relations between young people and museums in co-design processes. However, the article also shows that building trust and navigating power dynamics are challenging. This emphasizes co-design as a complex approach requiring time and attention to youth agency. This research opens new avenues for using prejudices constructively in co-design. By acknowledging these prejudices, museums can create more inclusive learning communities, ultimately strengthening youth engagement with cultural heritage
