Not only is Bengal, past and present, an area extremely rich in religious syncretism due to the interaction of various belief systems over the ages, but there is also a great wealth of relevant literature available. Unfortunately for many scholars, much of this literature is not only quite difficult to procure, but is moreover available only in Bengali. Here a selection from such literature, of recent origin and to a large extent on the Bauls, is discussed
