Les stéréotypes sexués relatifs à la pratique des activités physiques et sportives chez les adolescents français et leurs conséquences discriminatoires

Cet article porte sur les stéréotypes sexués, relatifs à la pratique des activités physiques et sportives et sur leurs conséquences. Lors d’entretiens semi-directifs, 86 élèves de l’enseignement secondaire ont été invités à citer des activités, qui favorisent les garçons, les filles, des activités non discriminatoirees, et justifier leur classement. Les activités les plus fréquemment citées ont été celles qui favorisent les garçons. Les élèves, filles et garçons, ont cité, globalement, les mêmes activités dans chacune des catégories. Ces perceptions reflètent les caractéristiques intrinsèques sexuées des activités. Le fait que les activités favorisent les filles ou les garçons a été justifié par des différences « naturelles » entre les deux sexes. Cet article met en relief le pouvoir explicatif des stéréotypes sexués et leur influence sur l’engagement et les performances des filles et des garçons dans les activités physiques
