Some clarification is necessary before we begin in order not to mislead. This study is primarily exploratory and documentary. Exploratory because it forms the basis for a larger work whose ideas need to be synthesized and more closely scrutinized.1 Informative since it is essentially an inventory (an analytical one naturally) of novels and their authors who are Haitian nationals but who have lived and still live in North America. This presentation simply invites you to read and become acquainted with these novels and novelists. This may not be a wholly satisfactory procedure but it is more interesting than a critique of works almost unknown to Caribbean or even Haitian readers
