This paper discusses a research project assessing the affirmative action commitment of postsecondary institutions. The project, using an unobtrusive technique involving fictitious position-wanted ads in the Chronicle of Higher Education, supplies modest empirical data suggesting reluctant institutional commitment to locate and recruit female and minority candidates for administrative positions
