The research uncovered principally documents problem areas in the delivery of services to the lower socioeconomic classes. Few articles were found describing attempts at the solution of these problems through evaluation of different approaches to service delivery. The implications of the articles summarized are discussed, and the continuing need for additional research to guide development of effective community mental health services is stressed
