Paleoindian points from the eastern Nebraska Sand Hills are made of raw materials originating hundreds of miles away to the west instead of much closer sources in eastern Nebraska. This pattern suggests a western origin for these earliest occupants of east central Nebraska, probably reflecting an eastward expansion of the grasslands and the associated bison hunting economy in Pre-Boreal times. It is suggested that the western flint resource areas were part of the regular transhumant pattern of these early hunters and gatherers
