Interdisciplinary studies of Quaternary fossil groups strengthen the paleoenvironmental interpretations of archaeological sites. In this paper, we present the results of an investigation of an assemblage of these groups, recovered from late Wisconsin organic sediment from Lamb Spring, a multi-component archaeological site on the eastern edge of the Front Range, south of Denver, Colorado. The late Wisconsin insect fauna from the site includes 72 identified taxa, principally beetles (Table I), providing substantial paleoenvironmental data. The insect fauna comprises two distinct ecological groups, one suggesting a prairie grassland environment and the other an alpine tundra environment. Accelerator radiocarbon dating of fossil specimens from the two groups reveals that they represent a mixture of reworked 18,000 year-old specimens (the grassland fauna) and 14,500 year-old specimens (the alpine tundra fauna)
