Cet article examine les differents modes de traitement de la tradition chez Assia Djebar et Aicha Lemsine : tandis qu'Aicha Lemsine essaie dans ses deux romans (La chrysalide et Ciel de porphyre) de reconcilier la tradition maghrebine et les valeurs occidentales, Assia Djebar opte dans ses romans (La Soif, Les impatients, Ombre sultane et L'amour la fantasia) pour une prudente deconstruction de la tradition comme force oppressive dans sa representation de l'histoire ; son ecriture n'en restant pas moins ancree dans la tradition (islamique) comme axe d'identite sociale et religieuse
