The nighttime economy is a vital driver of urban economic development. Extending beyond the prevailing tourist-centric perspective, this study examines the underexplored residents' angle by developing a mediation model grounded in social exchange theory (SET), cognitive appraisal theory (CAT), and emotional solidarity (ES) theory. The model investigates how residents' perceptions of night-time tourism (NTT) impacts influence their support for its development, through the parallel mediators of subjective well-being (SWB) and ES. Data from 405 residents in Nanchang, China, support the model, confirming that NTT impacts indirectly affect support via SWB and ES. The findings elucidate complex mediation mechanisms, including the full mediation of SWB between negative economic impacts and ES. The study concludes with significant theoretical and practical implications for fostering sustainable NTT development
