THE distinction between influences from the side of money and from the side of goods and the consequent separation of the monetary and non-monetary approach in economic theory is an inheritance from the classical school which is being overcome only very gradually and with great difficulty. It is the purpose of this article to trace the process by which this separation is being abandoned, and to show how the coordination of tlie theory of prices and the theory of money into one logically coherent system is slowly being achieved in current economic literature
