Developing a circular regeneration toolbox for the public space of old residential area
The ongoing urban regeneration processes have led to substantial amounts of construction demolition and decoration waste (CDDW). Given the large volume of material flow and its significant environmental impact, it is crucial to rethink the sustainability-oriented construction to urban regeneration. This study aims to develop a circular regeneration toolbox specifically for the public spaces of old residential areas, encompassing an analysis of th…
Prevalence of insufficient outdoor activity and caregiver-related correlates among school-aged children in Beijing, China
Background: Daily outdoor activity time among school-age children worldwide is on a downward trend. This study updated the daily outdoor activity status of Chinese school-age children and analyzed the factors associated with insufficient outdoor activity among school-age children. Methods: This study utilized baseline data from a sugar-sweetened beverage consumption behavior cohort conducted among primary and secondary schools in Beijing, China. …
Factors and pathways influencing sugar-sweetened beverage consumption among children in middle childhood
Background Sugar-sweetened beverage (SSB) consumption among children represents a significant risk factor for health problems, including obesity and dental caries. Children aged 8 ~ 9 years are in a critical developmental period for behavioral habit formation; however, the mechanisms underlying these behaviors require deeper investigation. Grounded in social-ecological theory, this study systematically explores the associations between multilevel…
The Impact of GenAI on Epistemic Construction, Friction and Regulation
This study focuses on the process by which doctoral researchers construct epistemic sovereignty and control in AI‐assisted writing. This study employs a duoethnographic approach to analyse the reflective dialogues of two multidisciplinary doctoral researchers. It examines their use of ChatGPT and DeepSeek for academic writing through a theoretical framework of self‐training, epistemic construction, and epistemic friction. The main findings are as…

Local Government Adaptation for Dispersed Cald Ageing Communities
Local councils in New South Wales are central to supporting culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) residents, yet many populations are spatially dispersed across local government boundaries. Drawing on interviews with staff across six councils in Greater Sydney and analysis of policy and governance documents, this study examines how place-based systems respond to dispersed older Chinese-speaking communities. We show that while participation…
A Longitudinal Study of Bicultural Acceptance Attitudes, Peer Support, Perceived Health, and Life Satisfaction among Multicultural Adolescents in South Korea
Assisted Self-Governance
In Australia's multicultural ageing context, older immigrants’ community participation is shaped by institutional arrangements that value inclusion yet struggle to accommodate cultural difference. This article examines how CASS Care Ltd, a long-standing community organisation, supported culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) older adults to become volunteers. Drawing on qualitative analysis of group activities and interviews, the study find…
Ambivalent Sexism and Decent Work Among South Korean STEM University Women
This study applied the psychology of working theory to examine how ambivalent sexism predicts perceptions of decent work and occupational engagement via work volition and career adaptability among female science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) university students in South Korea ( N = 397). Results showed good fit for the measurement and structural models. Hostile sexism negatively affected work volition, which mediated its relati…
National Identity and Life Satisfaction Among Multicultural Adolescents in South Korea
This study examined the longitudinal relationships between national identity, bicultural attitudes, perceived health, and life satisfaction among multicultural adolescents in South Korea. Following Berry’s bidimensional acculturation model, a strong sense of national identity encourages positive bicultural attitudes, which, in turn, improve adolescents’ perceived health and overall life satisfaction. The study also investigated how these factors …

Association of nonrefractive visual impairment with risk of all-cause and specific-cause mortality in the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey, 1999 to 2008
Our findings confirm that NVI and its severity are independent risk factors for all-cause and DM-specific mortality among the US population. This highlights the importance of regular visual acuity examinations, particularly for NVI screening, especially in individuals with diabetes
Making governance agile
As the key to digital transformation, artificial intelligence is believed to help achieve the goal of government as a platform and the agile development of digital services. Yet we know little about its potential role in local governance, especially the advances that AI-supported services for the public sector in local governance have ventured and the public value they have created. Combining the digital transformation concepts and public value t…
A study on the structural relationship between emotional labor, job burnout, and turnover intention among office workers in Korea
The findings underscored the importance of managing emotional labor and job burnout and fostering robust leader-member relationships to reduce staff turnover. Moreover, leader-member exchange was found to mitigate the effects of emotional labor on job burnout and turnover intention, with higher leader-member exchange reducing the negative impact of deep acting on turnover intention through job burnout
The Effect of Spotlight on the Allocation of Voter Attention
The prevailing notion in electoral studies suggests that salient candidates boost the visibility of their neighbors on the ballot, whereas the selective visual attention theory from psychology predicts the opposite. This article leverages the unique setting of large Chinese block-voting ballots, which originally came from Europe, to resolve the theoretical controversy. Our findings reveal that conventional ballot position effects persist, with to…

Child Food Insecurity and the Food Stamp Program
The Food Stamp Program (FSP) is a cornerstone of the food assistance safety net’s efforts to reduce household food insecurity, particularly among children. We examine the dynamic relationship between FSP participation and child food insecurity using monthly measures from the Panel Study of Income Dynamics, rather than annual measures. Findings demonstrate that child food insecurity increases in the months immediately prior to FSP entrance but the…

This study aims to identify the underlying mechanism between intra-group relationship conflict and knowledge hiding. Design/methodology/approach Drawing on affective events theory (AET), the authors propose a theoretical …
Unpacking government social media messaging strategies during the Covid‐19 pandemic in China
A core aspect of agile governance is effectively managing communications between a government and its citizens. However, doing so during an emergency—particularly a pandemic—is often complex and challenging. In this article, we examine how various levels of the Chinese government (central, provincial, and municipal) communicated with the public in response to the COVID‐19 pandemic. Analyzing government social media posts during the COVID‐19 outbr…
Mapping rainfall interception for assessing ecological restoration sustainability in China
Ecological restoration (ER) programs play an important role in local and global climate change and carbon management policy interventions. Water resource is a key criterion for assessing the sustainability of ERs. Herein, we explored the spatiotemporal patterns of rainfall interception (RI, an important component of ecosystem water budgets), and its drivers after ER implementation in China. Further, we assessed whether ERs are sustainable by anal…
