An Examination of College Students’ Social Media Use, Fear of Missing Out, and Mindful Attention
This study investigated problematic social media use (PSMU), the fear of missing out (FOMO), mindful attention, self‐esteem, and life satisfaction among 278 undergraduate students. Results indicated that PSMU and FOMO negatively related to mindful attention, self‐esteem, and life satisfaction. Teaching is one of the primary roles of counselor educators; and, therefore, it is crucial to have psychometrically sound assessments to evaluate teaching competencies. This study focused on the development of the Teaching Competencies Scale (TCS). We conducted an exploratory factor analysis with 288 individuals and identified four factors with 48 items. The COVID-19 pandemic disrupted many counselor education programs. We interviewed 10 school counselor educators to explore their experiences navigating practicum and internship experiences during the pandemic. We identified five themes: (a) supporting SCITs, (b) decision-making, (c) rethinking clinical experiences, (d) preparedness, and (e) gatekeeping. We discuss implications for student training and research
Exhausted Parents Experience of Anger
The purpose of this study was to examine the relationship between anger and burnout among parents ( N =226). The results revealed burnout contrast and exhaustion predicted anger experience, and burnout contrast also predicted anger expression. The authors discuss the limitations of the study and implications for counseling research and practice

The authors explored emotion regulation (ER) among 25 counseling professionals (master's-level counselors-in-training and counseling supervisors) using grounded theory and established 5 themes: (a) emotional experiences, (b) emotion processing, (c) metacognition, (d) emotional self-protection, and (e) emotional support. Development of the Altruism Scale for Children
This article focuses on the development of the Altruism Scale for Children (ASC). Analyses revealed a one-factor model with internal consistency of 0.89 and test-retest reliability of 0.94. Nature is powerful and restorative, and some research already supports the therapeutic use of nature to address grief. We outline a therapeutic gardening approach to use with survivors of suicide loss and present a case study.
