  • Concurrent Validation and Regression Line Comparison of the Spanish Edition of the Lollipop Test (La Prueba Lollipop) on a Bilingual Population

    Open Access•Alex L Chew, W Steve Lang•ARTICLE•Educational and Psychological…•1993

The need for a Hispanic edition of a culture-fair school readiness test was a major motivation for the development of the Spanish language edition of the Lollipop Test. The purpose of this study was to examine the concurrent validity of the Spanish edition of the Lollipop Test as an appropriate alternative preschool assessment instrument for bilingual Hispanic children using the Developmental Indicators for the Assessment of Learning-Revised (DIA…

  • Predicting Academic Achievement in Kindergarten and First Grade from Prekindergarten Scores on the Lollipop Test and Dial

    Open Access•Alex L Chew, W Steve Lang•ARTICLE•Educational and Psychological…•1990

The focus of the present study was on the multivariate relationship of two predictors of school readiness administered four months prior to kindergarten to two groups of criteria. A sample of 110 children from rural Georgia were followed longitudinally. The overall results indicate a high degree of commonality between the Developmental Indicators for the Assessment of Learning and the Lollipop Test. Both predictors demonstrated equivalent ability…

  • Predicting Later Academic Achievement from Kindergarten Scores on the Metropolitan Readiness Tests and the Lollipop Test

    Open Access•Alex L Chew, John D Morris•ARTICLE•Educational and Psychological…•1989

The long-term predictive validities of the Metropolitan Readiness Tests (MRT) and the Lollipop Test: A Diagnostic Screening Test of School Readiness were examined. The achievement of 246 students in reading and mathematics as measured by the Stanford Achievement Test and teacher assigned grades in first, third, and fourth grades was predicted from kindergarten administrations of each of these test batteries. All multiple correlations for the Loll…

  • Investigation of the Lollipop Test as a Pre-Kindergarten Screening Instrument

    Open Access•Alex L Chew, John D Morris•ARTICLE•Educational and Psychological…•1987

The validity of the Lollipop Test: A Diagnostic Screening Test of School Readiness was examined for a group of pre-kindergarten subjects using the Developmental Indicator for the Assessment of Learning (DIAL) as the criterion. Both instruments were individually administered by qualified examiners to a sample of 129 prekindergarten pupils. The statistical significance of all the correlations (p

  • Validation of the Lollipop Test

    Open Access•Alex L Chew, John D Morris•ARTICLE•Educational and Psychological…•1984

The validity of the Lollipop Test: A Diagnostic Screening Test of School Readiness was examined by using the Metropolitan Readiness Test (MRT), Level I, Form Q, as the criterion. The sample of 293 kindergarten pupils was administered the MRT by their teachers in classroom groups; the Lollipop Test was individually administered by qualified examiners. The statistical significance of all correlations (p

  • Training Counselors to Interpret Psychoeducational Evaluations

    Open Access•Alex L Chew•ARTICLE•Counselor Education and Supervision•1984•References: 4

Evidence from the literature and from reported practice indicates that school counselors are increasingly expected to be competent in the interpretation of individually administered psychoeducational tests and reports. Systematic training in these competencies, however, is often not included as an integral part of counselor education programs. This article describes one counselor education program's response to the need for training in these inte…
