Drawing on folklore theory and the concept of ostension, the study analyzes…
Klounid ja teised kurjamid – hirmu ja vägivalla mitu nägu. Ostensioon ja kriminaalsed legendid
Põlvas puhkes paanika pärast seda, kui sotsiaalmeedias levis kulutulena teade linnas ringi sõitnud kahtlasest valgest kaubikust, kust karanud Edu poe lähedal välja maskis kahemeetrine mees, et röövida koolipoiss. Politseil oli see juba mitmes selletaoline juhtum uurida. Kurjakuulutava teate postitanud neiu väitis, et lugu juhtunud eelmise kolmapäeva õhtul tema teismelise vennaga, kelle kinnitusel olla teisedki poisid [...]

Kahjuks ei ole neid juttude aktuaalse leviku ajal kogutud, aga siiski on nüüd võimalik sellest traditsioonist aimu saada spetsiaalsetest militaarsete huvidega…

The Popular Ballad, Rumours and Memories as a Special Narrative Format
In principle, the new folksongs or folk ballads of the end of the 19th and beginning of the 20th century telling about dramatic events could also be called versified media news, as their aim was to mediate topical shocking events, in particular accidents or murders, thus serving as rumours, news and entertainment all in one. The popular ballad 'Saatuse vangis' ('Bound by Fate') tells a sensational story from southern Estonia. The song spread toge…

Buried Alive: The Phenomenon of Apparent Death in Estonian Tradition
Hardly any other folklore subject or motif can offer a more colourful bouquet in genre than apparent death, ranging from fairy tales and romantic legends to rumours, ballads, and jokes. The historical origin of stories of apparent death extends back to antiquity, probably also relying on some true events; however, the formation and spread of folktales on this subject falls into the Enlightenment period in Europe. The emergence and development of …
Meedia. Visuaalsus. Folkloor: Saatesõna
Tänapäeva kultuuri üks iseloomulikumaid jooni on visuaalse efektsuse taotlus ja lakooniline verbaalne väljenduslaad. Needsamad tendentsid iseloomustavad suuresti ka praegust pärimust. Maailma folkloristikas hakkas uurimisparadigma alates eelmise sajandi keskpaigast järk-järgult muutuma.
Metafoorses tähenduses on varjusurm (ingl seeming death, sks Scheintod) tänapäevalgi eesti keeles aktiivses kasutuses.

The Man Nails the Tail of a Wolf to a Tree (ATU 1896) is a popular folk tale with an international distribution. Texts of this type have also been called Munchausen tales.…
Väikese rahva "suured lood" - rahvajuttude kaudu konstrueeritud eneseesitlusest
