  • Samuel K. Cohn Jr. Epidemics

    Open Access•Joseph P Byrne•ARTICLE•The American Historical Review•2019

Samuel K. Cohn Jr. opens chapter 1 of Epidemics: Hate and Compassion from the Plague of Athens to AIDS with his framing questions: “Does the historical record confirm the conclusion of historians, social scientists, and public intellectuals: that epidemic disease normally provoked social and ethical tensions, with violence and blaming towards ‘others’? Did this violence intensify when diseases were mysterious, that is, mostly before the ‘laborato…

The aim of the present study was to examine maternal nutrient intakes during early pregnancy. 257 healthy women were recruited fr…

Open Access•Joseph P Byrne, Alexandros Kontonikas et al.•ARTICLE•Scottish Journal of Political…•2009•Cited by: 1

This paper contrasts the time-series properties of aggregate and disaggregate UK inflation. While aggregate inflation is found to be non-stationary, unit root rejection frequencies are increasing when we use more disaggregate data. Structural break analysis suggests that structural shifts in monetary policy could alter inflation persistence. Additionally, panel evidence indicates that the unit root hypothesis can be rejected for sectoral inflatio…
